The Mat-Su Borough is larger than many states in the lower 48 and we have more natural resources than most. There is absolutely no reason why, with modern technologies, that many of these resources could not be responsibly developed, brought to market or manufactured into consumer products right here. This could include coal, gas, timber, minerals, and others. Two wonderful things would come about by responsibly developing our natural resources. One, it could provide some needed taxes to help relieve some of this burden from the home owners and two, it would provide good jobs for our children.
