Hobbies

Where do I begin? I have never been bored a day in my life. There is always something to learn and do. When I was a little younger, I played a bass guitar in a rock band, repaired amplifiers and other sound equipment, and was a DJ for dances. I was an avid gardener and fruit tree experimenter. In Arizona, I had a whole acre of fruit trees and huge gardens, raised most of my own food, and was even President of the local chapter of the Mother Earth News Society.

I have been a Life Member of the NRA for more than 30 years. I was the Secretary of the Arizona State Varmint Caller’s Association and the Program Director for the Mesa, Arizona Varmint Caller’s Association. I have been an NRA and State certified firearms and “Hunter Safety” instructor. I am also a licensed Ham Radio operator, and run my own web site. I’ve also done a little prospecting, gold panning, and metal detecting,

I love the wilds of Alaska and the outdoors, two way radios, computers, and people and am happiest when involved with two or more. I’m a volunteer communicator for the Red Cross, forest fires, search and rescue, and community events and worked on the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race about 8 years. I maintain radio repeater systems in south central Alaska and on the North Slope. I love teaching others to operate radios, LEO satellites, computers, and to hunt safely.
