Besides devoting most of my life to my family, I have given years of service to the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Church youth groups, Red Cross, Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, Junior Iditarod, Amateur radio, High School science classes and other good causes. I look at being on the Assembly as an opportunity to improve and continue in what I love to do: serve other people. I was on an Employee Safety Committee while working on the North Slope. During the Miller Reach Fire, I helped to provide radio gear and communication support to the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. I have been involved in the Lung Association Clean Air Bike Rides in the valley, the Heart Association Heart Run in Anchorage, the Hope Cottages Walk for Hope in the valley, the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage and I was the Communications Coordinator for the Restart of the Iditarod in Willow in 2001.
